Google Ads management, done by the person you talk to

Most accounts I get sent are not broken. They are set up to look busy. Plenty of clicks, a tidy dashboard, and nobody able to tell me which campaign actually paid for itself last month. I fix that first.

The five things I check before I touch anything

  • Whether conversion tracking is counting a real enquiry or a page view. About half the accounts I open are counting the wrong thing, which makes every number after it fiction.
  • How much of the budget is going to your own brand name. That traffic was coming anyway. Paying for it makes the report look great and the business no better off.
  • Broad match running without a negative keyword list behind it. That is how a Brisbane plumber ends up paying for "plumber salary" and "plumber courses".
  • Performance Max set up as one big blob, so nobody can see whether Shopping or Display did the work.
  • Geography. A radius around the CBD is not a service area, and in this city that alone can be a third of the spend.

What I actually do with the account

Search campaigns built around what the person typing wants, not around your product list. "Emergency electrician Chermside" and "how much does an electrician cost" are two different people at two different moments, and they should not see the same ad or land on the same page.

Shopping and Performance Max split apart so the reporting can tell me something. Asset groups by margin, not by however the feed happened to be sorted. Negative lists that get maintained instead of set once. Bidding that is told what a lead is worth to you, instead of guessing.

Then the boring part that decides everything: tracking. Real conversion actions, values attached where you have them, offline conversions imported when the sale closes on the phone or in the CRM, consent handled properly. Nothing gets scaled until I trust the numbers.

How it runs

  1. Week oneI get read access to the account and Analytics, do the review, and send you what I found in plain language. If the account is fine, I say so and that is the end of it.
  2. Weeks two and threeTracking fixed first. Then structure, negatives, geography, ads and landing pages, in that order, because there is no point tuning bids against numbers that are wrong.
  3. Every month afterOne note from me: what changed, what it did, what I am doing next. Written so you could forward it to a business partner without translating it.

How I charge

A fixed monthly fee, agreed before anything starts, based on how much work the account needs. Not a percentage of your ad spend. A percentage pays me to spend more of your money, and that is the wrong thing to pay me for.

No lock-in contract. Month to month. If the work is not paying for itself you should be able to leave, and any agency that needs a twelve month contract to keep you is telling you something.

The account, the tracking and the conversion history stay in your own Google Ads account with your name on it. If you ever leave, you take all of it with you.

Questions

Google Ads, straight answers

How much should I spend on Google Ads in Brisbane?

Enough to get useful data in a few weeks, and that depends entirely on your category. Clicks for trades, legal and cosmetic work in Brisbane can run past twenty dollars each. Plenty of retail and service categories sit under three. I look at your actual keywords and give you a real number, not a rule of thumb.

Do I have to sign a lock-in contract?

No. Month to month. You can stop any time and you keep the account.

Who owns the Google Ads account?

You do. It is set up in your own account with me added as a manager, never inside an agency account you cannot take with you. Same for GA4 and Tag Manager. The conversion history is the part that is hard to rebuild, and it stays yours.

Can you work with my existing account?

Usually yes, and it is nearly always the better option. An established account carries conversion history that Google's bidding relies on, and starting fresh throws that away. I only rebuild when the structure is beyond saving.

Are you Google certified?

Certifications are worth exactly the exam they took, so I would rather you judge the review I send you. If a badge matters for your procurement process, ask and I will tell you plainly what I hold.

Do you do Google Ads for businesses outside Brisbane?

Yes. Brisbane is home, but the account does not care where it is managed from. Clients around Australia are normal and the arrangement is identical.
