SEO in Brisbane, without the monthly report nobody reads

A lot of SEO retainers are an invoice with a graph attached. The work that moves rankings is unglamorous and mostly finite: make the site fast and readable, build pages that deserve to rank, and get the local signals right.

The technical part, done once and properly

  • One URL per page, instead of three versions that all answer and split the credit.
  • Honest canonicals, structured data that matches what is on the screen, and a sitemap that is not lying about what changed.
  • Load speed measured on a phone on mobile data, not on your desktop on the office wifi.
  • This is mostly a fixed job. An agency billing you for it every month for two years is billing you for a finished task.

Pages that deserve the ranking

Google ranks pages, not websites. If you offer six services across four areas, one page listing all of it loses to a competitor with a page for each. That is not a trick. It is being more useful to the person searching.

The page also has to answer the question fully enough that the visitor stops looking. Thin pages written around a keyword read exactly like what they are, and they have been getting worse at ranking, not better.

Local search, the fastest thing to move

For anything with a service area, your Google Business Profile does more work than your website. Categories set properly, service areas that match reality, real photos, reviews arriving steadily rather than in a burst, and the same name, address and phone everywhere it appears.

Boring, and for a Brisbane business it is often the single fastest thing to move. It is also the place assistants like ChatGPT go for local answers, which is why the AI search visibility work starts here too.

Questions

SEO, straight answers

How long does SEO take in Brisbane?

Months, not weeks. Technical fixes and Business Profile work can show up in a few weeks. Competing for a properly contested term takes longer, and nobody honest will give you a date.

Can you guarantee first place on Google?

No, and neither can anyone else. What I can promise is a site that is technically able to rank, pages built around what people actually search, and a straight account of what moved. Anyone guaranteeing position one is either misunderstanding search or hoping you do.

Do I still need SEO if my ads are working?

They do different jobs. Ads stop the day you stop paying. Organic keeps working but takes time and cannot be turned up on demand. Most businesses want both, with the balance shifting as the organic side matures.

Is SEO dead now people ask AI instead?

It changed. The assistants are reading the same web, so the pages that answer questions clearly are the ones getting quoted. What is dying is content written purely to game a ranking. There is a separate page on AI search visibility.

Do you build links?

Only ones a real person would click. Directory spam and paid link packages are how sites get penalised, and I will not put your domain in that position for a short-term bump.

Read access to the account, or screenshots of the last ninety days.

    I read it

And write back in plain language: what is working, what is wasting money, what I would do first.
