Google Ads Brisbane

Most Brisbane accounts I open are paying for the wrong geography. The city sprawls, service areas are wide, and a circle drawn around the CBD does not describe where anybody actually works.

Geography first

Targeting set by suburb and service area rather than by a circle on a map, with the northside and southside split where the business really trades differently across the river. Bid adjustments that follow where the good jobs come from, not where the most clicks come from.

For anything with a van, this alone usually moves cost per job more than any amount of ad copy testing.

Then the account itself

  • Campaigns structured by intent. "Emergency plumber Chermside" is not "how much does a plumber cost".
  • Negative keyword lists that actually get maintained, not set once in 2023.
  • Performance Max split so the reporting can tell you which part earned its keep.
  • Conversion tracking that counts a real enquiry, not a page view.
  • Local competitors bidding on your brand name, which is common here and cheap to defend against once somebody notices.
Questions

Asked most often

How much should a Brisbane business budget for Google Ads?

It depends on the category more than the city. Trades, legal and cosmetic clinics compete hard on clicks here. Local retail and many service categories are far cheaper. A look at your keyword set gives a real number in about half an hour.

Is Google Ads better than SEO in Brisbane?

Different jobs. Ads work immediately and stop when you stop paying. SEO is slower and compounds. For most local businesses here the sensible order is ads first for cash flow, organic built underneath.

Do you offer a free Google Ads audit?

Yes. Give me read access and I send you what I found in plain language, whether or not it turns into work. If the account is fine, I say so.

Send what you are running now and what is not working. You get an honest read back, usually the same day.

8am to 5pm AEST, Monday to Friday. I answer the phone myself, and if I am in the middle of something I ring back the same day.

And write back in plain language: what is working, what is wasting money, what I would do first.

No pitch deck, no follow-up sequence. If the account is fine, I tell you that and we are done.
